Shirley became a
foster mom over a decade ago when she
gave a home to her three grandchildren,
then ages 6, 2 and 18 months. “God told
me in a vision this was what I was meant

was fostering six more children from
Orchards – all under the age of 12.
Orchards provided training, helped her get counseling for the

presents and occasional luxuries like
seats at the ballpark and tickets to the
Detroit Zoo.
Over the next 10 years
she opened her home to almost 100

who arrived on her doorstep who didn’t
know how to brush her teeth.
“When protective
services came, they would run and hide,
said Mrs. Davis. These kids took care of
themselves the best they could all of
their lives.”
Today Shirley's home
is full of love. She is mom to eight
adopted girls that she originally
fostered and one granddaughter
