Orchards
Children's Services is the proud recipient
of the 2011 Bank of America Neighborhood
Builders Award.
Orchards was one of two Detroit area
nonprofit organizations honored by Bank of
America on Thursday, November 10, as
“neighborhood builders.”
The honor was announced during the bank’s
annual Neighborhood Excellence Initiative
presentation at The Fillmore in downtown
Detroit. The other Neighborhood Builder
distinction went to ACCESS. Each recipient
received $200,000 to support programs that
strengthen area neighborhoods.
Orchards congratulates all award recipients
for their tireless volunteerism and
community spirit, and thanks Bank of America
for the recognition and support.

On January 12 The Ajamu Group LLC presented
its annual Multicultural Media Luncheon in
conjunction with the North American Auto
Show-Detroit. Daymond John--Founder
and CEO of the iconic brand FUBU (For Us By
Us) from the ABC Television show, Shark
Tank--was the keynote speaker. The
luncheon also honored minorities in the auto
industry. A portion of the net
proceeds will benefit Project Medishare for
Haiti and Orchards Children's Services.
